Group Programs (3 - 5 years old)
Our Piano Prep / Early Childhood Classes provide your child with an opportunity to start young, when their aptitude is the highest. In a stimulating musical environment, your child will sing, dance and play their way towards developing the skills that are fundamental to beginning piano or other instrumental lessons. Activities will focus on games that assist children in developing musically and that encourage a love of music. Children may participate in multiple sessions and join at any time. Piano Prep Classes prepare children for successful participation in private lessons.
Piano Prep / Early Childhood Class
In this lively, fun transitional class, your child will sing, dance, and play (at the piano!) his way towards developing essential musical skills enabling him to begin formal instrumental study with ease. Once a child has developed these essential skills, he is free to focus on the development of techniques and skills particular to his chosen instrument. This increases the joy and speed with which children learn to make music. In each 6 week session your child will:
- Move expressively - develops expressive playing and builds a steady, internal pulse.
- Hear and sing music - develops aural skills and the ability to sing in tune.
- Hear and echo musical patterns - builds music vocabulary.
- Develop a good piano playing posture - builds a strong foundation.
- Play music on the piano - builds aural skills, keyboard knowledge, technique.
Your child may start at the beginning of any 6 week session and continue for up to 2 years or until your child is ready to pursue private or group instrumental classes.
